AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF BROOKFIELD TO CONTINUE THE EMPLOYMENT OF HERBERT A. CHAFFEE, II
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Herbert A. Chaffee, II a member of the fire department of the town of Brookfield, may continue to serve in such position until February 23, 2030, until the date of his retirement or until the date he is relieved of his duties by the select board of the town of Brookfield, whichever occurs first; provided, however, that he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of such position; provided further, that the town of Brookfield may, at its own expense, require that Herbert A. Chaffee, II be examined by an impartial physician designated by the town of Brookfield to determine such capability; and provided further, that no further deductions shall be made from the regular compensation of Herbert A. Chaffee, II under chapter 32 of the General Laws for any service performed subsequent to his reaching the age of 65 and, upon retirement, Herbert A. Chaffee, II shall receive a superannuation retirement allowance equal to that which he would have been entitled had he retired upon reaching the age of 65.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
