Angelo J. Puppolo, Jr. is a lifelong resident of the City of Springfield. Angelo attended Springfield Public Schools and graduated from the former Classical High School. He is the son of the late former Springfield City Councilor Angelo "Duffy" Puppolo. His mother is Laura Puppolo, and he has a sister Maria. He is married to Isabel (Fernandes) Puppolo, and they have two daughters.

Angelo passed the Massachusetts Bar Exam on his first attempt, and is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In addition, Angelo is admitted to the Connecticut Bar, the Maine Bar, and the Federal Bar for The United States District Court. He is an attorney in private practice, and Justice of the Peace.

He was also a successful small business owner, operating a plumbing and heating company his family established in Springfield three generations ago. While working, Angelo put himself through college, earning degrees in Political Science and Business Finance. In addition, Angelo has earned a Juris Doctor degree from Western New England College School of Law where he graduated with honors (CumLaude).

Angelo is an avid baseball, football and hockey fan. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, biking, bird watching and astronomy. Angelo also enjoys collecting nautical antiques. Additionally, Angelo likes to attend the theater, and watch live performances of musicals and operas. He is a big fan of the Phantom of the Opera and the play Wicked, which are two of his all-time favorite performances.

Angelo gives much of his time in helping numerous civic and fraternal organizations including the Springfield Elks Lodge, Knights of Columbus, UNICO, Sons of Italy, ITAM Vets Hampden County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, Melha Shriners and the Meadows Lodge of Masons. He continues to work effectively with business, community, union and government leaders and gets real results. Angelo believes that every neighborhood counts.

Career Highlights

  • Co-sponsor of legislation that requires health insurance companies to cover diagnosis of and treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Lead sponsor of and drafted the bill for Silver Alert legislation which established a coordinated, community system by trained first responders to locate missing seniors with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia
  • Successfully fought for the siting of the state’s new Springfield Data Center at the city’s former Technical High School location
  • Sponsored legislation declaring November Thrombosis Awareness Month in the Commonwealth
