Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. The town of Groton may transfer care, custody and control of a certain portion of the town forest including the well designated as No. 10-02 and the area within a 400-foot radius of a well so used for public water supply purposes to the board of selectmen and the town forest committee, for the purpose of entering into an agreement with the West Groton Water Supply District by lease or otherwise for the purposes of a public water supply system and to grant an easement to the district in, under and through town forest land for the purpose of installing and maintaining utility service lines and appurtenances necessary in connection with the use of a well for public water supply purposes. This portion and easement are shown on a plan of deed entitled "Easement Plan of Land in Groton , Mass. SECTION 2. No document transferring care, custody, control and management of the property described in section 1 shall be valid unless such document provides that the property shall be used solely for public water supply purposes as described in section 1. The document shall include a reversionary clause that stipulates that the property shall revert to the town of Groton for town forest and water supply protection purposes if the property ceases to be used for the express purposes for which it was transferred.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
