AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE BOARD OF ASSESSORS OF THE TOWN OF PROVINCETOWN.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Article 4 of chapter 6 of the charter of the town of Provincetown, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out section 6-4-1 and inserting in place thereof the following section:-
Section 6-4-1. There shall be a board of assessors as provided in section 24 of chapter 41 of the General Laws consisting of 5 regular members and 1 alternate member. The assessor appointed by the town manager pursuant to section 7-2-5 shall be a regular member of the board of assessors and the assessor shall not be subject to article 4 of chapter 3. The remaining members shall be appointed by the board of selectmen for 3-year overlapping terms so arranged that the term of at least 1 regular member shall expire each year.

SECTION 2. Said article 4 of said chapter 6 of said charter is hereby further amended by adding the following section:-
Section 6-4-3. The term limits established by section 3-4-4 shall not apply to members of the board of assessors.


SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
