AN ACT RELATIVE TO HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR PAID ELECTED OFFICIALS IN THE TOWN OF SANDWICH.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding chapter 32B of the General Laws, part-time elected officials of the town of Sandwich who receive a salary or a stipend shall not be eligible for participation in the town's contributory health and life insurance plan, except that those part-time officials who were elected before April 1, 2005 and currently participate in that plan shall be eligible to continue to participate until the end of their current term. Part-time elected officials who receive a salary or a stipend and who elect to pay 100 per cent of the cost of the official's participation in the town's health and life insurance benefit plan, plus any administrative costs that may be assessed by the board of selectmen, may be considered eligible to participate.
