AN ACT EXEMPTING JOSEPH WALKLETT FROM THE MAXIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT AS A FIREFIGHTER IN THE CITY OF MALDEN.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 58 of chapter 31 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, Joseph Walklett of the city of Malden shall be eligible to have his name certified for original appointment to the position of firefighter in the city of Malden, notwithstanding his having reached the age of 32 before taking the civil service examination in connection with that appointment. If Joseph Walklett meets all other requirements for certification as a firefighter under said chapter 31, regulations of the civil service commission and any lawful hiring practices of the city of Malden, he shall be eligible for appointment to the position of firefighter in the city of Malden.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
