AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF BECKET TO CONTINUE THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE, WILLIAM ELOVIRTA.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, William Elovirta, chief of the police department of the town of Becket, may continue in the position until June 30, 2012 if he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of the position. The board of selectmen of the town of Becket shall, at the expense of William Elovirta, require him to be examined by an impartial physician designated by the board of selectmen to determine such capability. No further deductions shall be made from the regular compensation of William Elovirta under chapter 32 of the General Laws.

SECTION 2. William Elovirta shall be subject to the limitations on hours worked and on payments to retired town employees under paragraph (b) of section 91 of chapter 32 of the General Laws.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
