AN ACT MAKING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF ABINGTON.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. The first paragraph of section 2-8 of the charter of the town of Abington, as appearing in chapter 259 of the acts of 2004, is hereby amended by striking out the second, third and fourth sentences and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- Notice of an annual or special town meeting shall be provided in the manner prescribed by the General Laws and town by-laws.

SECTION 2. Section 3-8 of said charter, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the third sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- The board of library trustees shall have all of the powers and duties which are given to library trustees under chapter 78 of the General Laws and any other relevant provisions of the constitution and laws of the commonwealth and shall have such additional powers and duties as may be authorized by the charter, by by-law or by other vote of the town meeting.

SECTION 3. The third sentence of section 6-5 of said charter, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the word “fourteen” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- 10.

SECTION 4. Said section 6-5 of said charter, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out the fourth sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- The report shall also be made available to voters of the town immediately after the filing with the town clerk, in the manner provided in the town by-laws, and at town meeting.

SECTION 5. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
