AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF SCITUATE TO CONTINUE THE EMPLOYMENT OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE, BRIAN E. STEWART.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Brian E. Stewart, chief of the police department of the town of Scituate, may continue in the position until June 30, 2013 if he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of the position. The appointing authority may, at its own expense, require that Brian E. Stewart be examined by an impartial physician to determine such capability. Deductions shall continue to be made from the regular compensation of Brian E. Stewart under chapter 32 of the General Laws for any service performed until June 30, 2013.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
