AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE HARBOR MASTER IN THE TOWN OF MATTAPOISETT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 19 of chapter 102 of the General Laws, or any other general or special law to the contrary, the board of selectmen of the town of Mattapoisett shall appoint the harbor master. The board of selectmen may remove the harbor master after opportunity for a hearing. The board of selectmen may enter into an employment contract with the harbor master for a term of not more than 3 years establishing salary, subject to appropriation, fringe benefits and all other conditions of employment, including, but not limited to, reimbursement for expenses incurred in the performance of the harbor master’s duties, liability insurance, performance standards, reappointment and conditions of discipline, termination, suspension and dismissal.

SECTION 2. The harbor master holding office on the effective date of this act may continue in the office until the board of selectmen of the town of Mattapoisett appoints a harbor master pursuant to section 1.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
