AN ACT EXEMPTING DAVID EDDY FROM THE MAXIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT FOR FIREFIGHTERS IN THE CITY OF METHUEN.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding sections 58, 61A and 61B of chapter 31 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, David J. Eddy may be certified for original appointment to the position of firefighter in the city of Methuen, notwithstanding having reached the age of 32 before taking any civil service examination in connection with the appointment. In all other aspects, David J. Eddy shall be eligible for appointment to the position of firefighter in the city of Methuen only insofar as he qualifies and is selected for employment pursuant to said chapter 31, regulations of the civil service commission and lawful hiring practices of the city of Methuen. This exemption shall apply only to the certified lists assembled under the examination conducted before the effective date of this act.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
