AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE REINSTATEMENT OF KENNETH G. LAXTON AS A RESERVE POLICE OFFICER IN THE TOWN OF SOUTHWICK

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Kenneth G. Laxton, a retired reserve police officer of the police department of the town of Southwick, may be reinstated as a reserve police officer until he reaches 70 years of age provided that he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of a reserve police officer.  Kenneth G. Laxton shall, at the town’s expense, be examined by an impartial physician designated by the town to determine his capability.  No further deductions shall be made from Kenneth G. Laxton’s regular compensation pursuant to chapter 32 of the General Laws for service subsequent to July 31, 2013 and upon retirement Kenneth G. Laxton shall receive a superannuation retirement allowance equal to that which he was entitled to receive as of July 31, 2013.
     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
