AN ACT RELATIVE TO PRIVATE ROADS IN THE TOWN OF BARNSTABLE

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     SECTION 1.  Chapter 174 of the acts of 1994 is hereby amended by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the town of Barnstable may borrow from time to time, as authorized by a 2/3 vote of the town council, sums as may be necessary to repair and improve private ways within the town; provided, however, that the outstanding indebtedness pursuant to this act shall not exceed $15,000,000 at the close of any fiscal year.
     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
