AN ACT ELIMINATING THE PRELIMINARY ELECTION IN THE CITY OF LYNN IN 2015.

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding section 7-4 of the charter of the city of Lynn or any general or special law to the contrary, there shall be no preliminary election in the city of Lynn, as otherwise required on September 1, 2015 for the office of school committee for a 2-year term or for the office of city council for a 2-year term. The candidates whose nomination papers have been duly certified shall be deemed to have been nominated and the candidates’ names shall appear on the general election ballot.  Any person may seek elected office via a write-in campaign in the general election in November. 
     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
