AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE LONG TERM LEASE OF THE FORMER ANAWAN SCHOOL IN THE TOWN OF REHOBOTH.

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding section 3 of chapter 40 of the General Laws, the town of Rehoboth, acting by and through its board of selectmen, may lease, for a term of not more than 99 years and under such terms and conditions as the board of selectmen deem appropriate subject to sections 2 and 3, all or a portion of a certain school building, known as the Anawan school property, located at 51-55 Bay State road in the town and shown on the Rehoboth Assessors' Map 39, Parcel 97, to be used for affordable housing.
     SECTION 2.  The lease authorized in section 1 shall provide that the property shall only be used for affordable housing for seniors, affordable housing for senior veterans, non-age restricted affordable housing or any combination thereof.
     SECTION 3.  Subsections (a), (b) and (g) of section 16 of chapter 30B of the General Laws shall apply to the lease authorized in section 1. Any person who leases the parcel pursuant to section 1 shall not assign, sublet or otherwise rent the parcel to another person without the prior written approval of the board of selectmen for the town of Rehoboth. Any further disposition of the parcel, other than that authorized by this act, shall be subject to said chapter 30B of the General Laws and section 3 of chapter 40 of the General Laws and any other applicable general law.
     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
