AN ACT RELATIVE TO CERTAIN ELECTIONS BY THE CITY COUNCIL IN THE CITY OF LAWRENCE

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     SECTION 1.  Section 3.6 of section 1 of chapter 425 of the acts of 1983 is hereby amended by striking out paragraph (a) and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
(a)  Election. The city council shall elect a city clerk and a city attorney who shall serve until their successors are qualified. The city council may remove the city clerk or city attorney by a 2/3 majority vote of the full city council. Any such removal from office shall be accompanied by a statement of the reasons therefor which shall be filed in the office of the city clerk.
     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
