AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF SPRINGFIELD TO CONVERT CERTAIN PARK LAND AT EMERSON WIGHT PARK.

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     SECTION 1. The city of Springfield, acting by and through the city council, with the approval of the mayor, may transfer a portion of Emerson Wight park to the department of public works of the city of Springfield for the construction and maintenance of culs-de-sac located at the end of Rutledge avenue and Wendell place. The parcels to be transferred contain approximately 0.42 acres of land collectively and are shown as parcel “A”, which contains 0.17 acres of land, and parcel “B”, which contains 0.25 acres of land, on a plan of land entitled “Plan of Proposed Conversion and Acquisition” by GZA Geoenvironmental, Inc.
     SECTION 2.  The city of Springfield, acting by and through the city council, with the approval of the mayor, may convert a portion of Emerson Wight park from park use to construct a community center to be maintained and controlled by the park commission of the city of Springfield. The parcel to be converted contains 0.56 acres of land and is shown as parcel “C” on the plan referenced in section 1.
     SECTION 3.  In consideration for the transfer authorized in section 1 and the conversion authorized in section 2, the city of Springfield shall acquire and dedicate and the park commission of the city of Springfield shall accept approximately 1.36 acres of replacement park land, consisting of parcels 1-7, parcel 10, a portion of parcel 9 and a portion of parcel 11 as shown on the plan referenced in section 1 which shall become part of Emerson Wight park.
     SECTION 4.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
