AN ACT RELATIVE TO PUBLICATION AND PUBLIC HEARING REQUIREMENTS FOR PROPOSED ORDINANCES IN THE CITY OF LAWRENCE
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 3.8 of chapter 425 of the acts of 1983 is hereby amended by striking out subsection (d), as amended by section 2 of chapter 430 of the acts of 2002, and inserting in place thereof the following subsection:-
(d) Publication and Public Hearing Required. Every proposed ordinance or loan order, except any submitted in accordance with subsection (b) of section 3.8, shall be published once in full in a local newspaper and in any additional manner required by law or by ordinance. The publication shall state the time, not less than 7 nor more than 14 days following the publication, and the place at which the city council, or a standing committee of the city council, will hold a public hearing on the proposed ordinance or loan order. The publication shall be posted on the city website reserved for the publication of such matters or in any other manner of notice intended to notify the public.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
