AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF DEERFIELD TO CONTINUE THE EMPLOYMENT OF POLICE OFFICERS GARY SIBILIA AND DAVID GENDRON

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Gary Sibilia and David Gendron, police officers with the police department of the town of Deerfield, may each continue to serve in his position until he reaches 70 years of age, or until the date of his retirement, or until he is relieved of his duties, whichever occurs first; provided, that he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of his position; and provided further, that each officer shall be examined by a physician to determine such capability. No further deductions shall be made from the regular compensation of Gary Sibilia or David Gendron pursuant to chapter 32 of the General Laws for service subsequent to the date that officer reaches 65 years of age and, upon retirement, each officer shall receive a superannuation retirement allowance equal to that which he would have been entitled had he retired at the age of 65.
     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
