AN ACT RATIFYING CERTAIN BY-LAWS IN THE TOWN OF EASTON

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding section 32 of chapter 40 or section 5 of chapter 40A of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the clerk of the town of Easton may submit the by-laws approved by the town meeting since January 1, 2009 to the attorney general for review. The attorney general shall, upon submission of the information necessary to demonstrate compliance with said section 32 of said chapter 40 and said section 5 of said chapter 40A, except for timeliness, undertake review of the by-laws pursuant to said section 32 of said chapter 40 or said section 5 of said chapter 40A as if the by-laws had been submitted in a timely manner. The by-laws shall be ratified upon the attorney general’s approval of the by-laws or the expiration of an applicable statutory time period without action by the attorney general; provided, however, that a zoning by-law shall take effect on the date of the town meeting at which it was approved and a general by-law shall take effect 90 days after the date of the town meeting at which it was approved.
     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
