AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF WINDSOR TO REINSTATE POLICE CHIEF THOMAS J. BARNABY.

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows: 
     SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Thomas J. Barnaby may serve as chief of police in the town of Windsor until April 29, 2020, the date of his resignation or the date he is relieved of his duties by the select board, whichever occurs first; provided, however, that he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of his office. The select board may, at its own expense, require that Thomas J. Barnaby be examined by an impartial physician designated by the select board to determine his capability. No deductions shall be made from the regular compensation of Thomas J. Barnaby pursuant to chapter 32 of the General Laws while he is employed as chief of police in accordance with all applicable law.
     SECTION 2.  Thomas J. Barnaby shall be subject to the limitations on hours worked and on payments to retired town employees pursuant to paragraph (b) of section 91 of chapter 32 of the General Laws.
     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
