AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE SILVER LAKE REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT TO CONVEY A CERTAIN PARCEL OF LAND TO THE TOWN OF KINGSTON.

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows: 
     SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the Silver Lake Regional School District may convey, to the town of Kingston, an approximately 5-acre parcel, being a portion of a larger parcel of land described in deeds to the district, recorded at the Plymouth county registry of deeds in book 2421, page 113;  book 2321, page 360; book 2302, page 52; book 2299, page 84; book 2297, page 165; and book 2284, page 333, and shown on an assessors map in the town of Kingston as Map 8, Parcel 51, to locate and construct a public safety building serving the town of Kingston; provided, however, that the conveyance contemplated under this act shall be subject to negotiation and agreement to terms approved by the district, acting by and through its duly elected committee, and the town of Kingston, acting by and through its board of selectmen; provided, however, that such negotiations shall take place after a duly posted meeting, notice of which shall be provided to the residents of the towns of Kingston, Plympton and Halifax by each town’s board of selectmen, to allow such residents to offer comments on the terms of the conveyance authorized by this act; and provided further, that the sale price for said property shall not be less than fair market value, as determined by a qualified appraiser.
     SECTION 2.  The conveyance authorized in this act shall be subject to the town of Kingston’s approval of the purchase of the land.
     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
