AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE ANNUAL TOWN ELECTIONS AND SPECIAL STATE ELECTION IN THE TOWNS OF HULL, MARSHFIELD AND NORWELL

      Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
      SECTION 1.  (a) Notwithstanding any general or special law or any town charter or by-law to the contrary, the towns of Hull, Marshfield and Norwell, by majority vote of the board of selectmen, may conduct the annual town election on May 10, 2016, to coincide with the date of the special state election.
      (b) If the original date of the annual town election in the town was scheduled to be conducted prior to May 10, 2016, any deadlines previously established for the town election shall remain in effect and any nomination papers which have been taken out may be completed and returned as lawfully qualifying for the election.
      (c) If the original date of the annual town election in the town was scheduled to be conducted after May 10, 2016, the deadline for the board of registrars to certify names on nomination papers shall be within 7 days of submission and the deadline to file an objection or withdrawal shall be within 48 weekday hours after the deadline to complete certification.
      SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
