AN ACT DESIGNATING A CERTAIN BRIDGE IN THE TOWN OF YARMOUTH AS THE LANCE CORPORAL WILLIAM JOSEPH DONOVAN JR. MEMORIAL BRIDGE

     Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to designate forthwith a certain bridge in the town of Yarmouth, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
     Bridge numbers Y-01-015 (477) and Y-01-016 (476) on West Yarmouth road spanning state highway route 6 in the town of Yarmouth shall be designated and known as the Lance Corporal William Joseph Donovan Jr. Memorial bridge, in honor of Lance Corporal William Joseph Donovan, Jr., a United States Marine Lance Corporal and recipient of 2 Purple Heart medals for injuries sustained in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The highway division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain conspicuous signs, plaques or markers recognizing the “Lance Corporal William Joseph Donovan Jr. Memorial bridge” that state “The commonwealth recognizes United States Marine Lance Corporal William J. Donovan Jr., recipient of two Purple Heart medals for injuries sustained in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, for his honor, courage and commitment to his community and country.
