AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE DEATH OF LAWRENCE POLICE PATROLMAN EUGENE SCANLON, SR. ON FEBRUARY 12, 1972

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Eugene Scanlon, Sr., a patrolman for the police department of the city of Lawrence who died on February 12, 1972, shall be an officer killed in the line of duty for the purposes of public recognition on literature, documents, memorials and monuments relative to officers killed in the line of duty.
SECTION 2. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, this act shall not confer additional survivor benefits upon the widow or surviving children of Eugene Scanlon, Sr.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
