AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF RUTLAND TO CONTINUE THE EMPLOYMENT OF DAVID WILLIAMS AS DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, David Williams, deputy chief of the fire department of the town of Rutland, may continue to serve in that position until December 31, 2021, the date of his retirement or the date on which he is relieved of his duties by the board of selectmen, whichever first occurs; provided, however, that he is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of his office. The board of selectmen, at its own expense, may require that David Williams be examined by an impartial physician designated by the board to determine his capability. SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
