AN ACT ESTABLISHING THE APPOINTED OFFICE OF TOWN CLERK IN THE TOWN OF DUNSTABLE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, there shall be established in the town of Dunstable the appointed position of town clerk. The town clerk shall be appointed and may be removed by the board of selectmen of the town and shall serve at the pleasure of the board of selectmen. The town clerk shall have all the powers and duties and be subject to the liabilities and penalties imposed by law on town clerks.

SECTION 2.  Upon the effective date of this act, the incumbent elected to the office of town clerk shall continue to hold the office and to perform the duties thereof until the expiration of the term for which the individual was elected or until the individual otherwise vacates the office, whichever is sooner, at which time the elected office of town clerk shall be abolished and appointments to the position of town clerk shall be made in accordance with section 1.

SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
