AN ACT RELATIVE TO DESIGNATING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY ROUTE 495 AS THE SUSANNAH NORTH MARTIN HIGHWAY

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the portion of interstate highway route 495 that runs through Susannah North Martin's original farmstead at the end of North Martin road in the city of Amesbury shall be designated and known as the Susannah North Martin Highway to commemorate her life and unjust persecution during the Salem Witch Trials. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain suitable markers bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department and as authorized by the Federal Highway Administration.
