AN ACT INCREASING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH IN THE TOWN OF READING
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 4.4 of article 4 of the charter of the town of Reading, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the first paragraph and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-
There shall be a board of health consisting of 5 members appointed by the board of selectmen for 3 year terms so arranged that at least 1 term shall expire each year.
SECTION 2. Within 30 days of the passage of this act, the board of selectmen of the town of Reading shall appoint 2 individuals to the board of health in accordance with section 4.4 of article 4 of the charter of the town of Reading; provided, however, that 1 member shall serve an initial term of 2 years and following the initial 2-year term shall serve terms of 3 years thereafter.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
