AN ACT EXEMPTING WILLIAM MCGRATH FROM THE AGE RESTRICTIONS FOR POLICE OFFICERS IN THE TOWN OF WRENTHAM

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, William McGrath, the chief of the police department of the town of Wrentham, may continue to serve in such position until he reaches the age of 70, until the date of his retirement or until the date he is relieved of his duties by the town administrator of the town of Wrentham, whichever occurs first; provided, however, that William McGrath is mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of his office; and provided further, that the town administrator may, at the town's own expense, require that William McGrath be examined by an impartial physician designated by the town administrator to determine such capability.
         (b) No further deductions shall be made from the regular compensation of William McGrath under chapter 32 of the General Laws for any service subsequent to William McGrath reaching the age of 65 and, upon retirement, he shall receive a superannuation retirement allowance equal to that to which he would have been entitled had he retired upon reaching the age of 65.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
