AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE ELECTION OF CANDIDATES IN THE CITY OF HAVERHILL
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section C-44C of the charter of the city of Haverhill, which is on file with the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:-
No person shall simultaneously hold the office of mayor, city councilor or school committee member while holding any other elected or appointed office of the city nor may any such person hold a position with the city for which the salary or compensation is payable out of the city treasury. This section shall not apply to a city councilor serving as acting mayor.
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect upon passage.
