AN ACT RELATIVE TO PARKING ENFORCEMENT IN THE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the city of Cambridge may issue notices of violation of any rule, regulation, order, ordinance or by-law established by the city regulating the parking of motor vehicles within the city through the use of automated license plate readers or similar parking monitoring technologies. The issuance of such notices of violation shall be conducted under the procedures prescribed in section 20A of chapter 90 of the General Laws. Photographs or data of parking violations detected by such readers or similar technologies and transmitted to the transportation department of the city of Cambridge shall constitute a cognizance of a violation for purposes of section 20A1/2 of said chapter 90. Issuance of notices of violation pursuant to this act shall require the provision of evidence that an alleged violation occurred in the form of photographs of the violation, monitoring data or other evidence of the violation from said department or such readers or similar technologies authorized under this act.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
