AN ACT EXEMPTING THE POSITION OF SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE IN THE CITY OF LOWELL FROM THE CIVIL SERVICE LAW.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 112 of the acts of 1924 is hereby repealed.

SECTION 2. The position of superintendent of police in the city of Lowell shall be exempt from chapter 31 of the General Laws.

SECTION 3.
Section 2 shall not impair the civil service status of any person holding the position of superintendent of police, other than acting or temporary, in the city of Lowell on the effective date of this act.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
