AN ACT EXEMPTING CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF THE SCHOOL DEPARTMENT IN THE TOWN OF ACUSHNET AND CERTAIN TOWN OF ACUSHNET CLERICAL AND JANITORIAL EMPLOYEES FROM THE CIVIL SERVICE LAW.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:

SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, employees of the school department in the town of Acushnet and the town of Acushnet clerical and janitorial employees shall be exempt from chapter 31 of the General Laws.

SECTION 2. Section 1 shall not impair the civil service status of any person employed by the school department of the town of Acushnet or as a clerical or janitorial employee of said town on the effective date of this act; provided, however, that this section shall not apply to any incumbent employee who has not yet attained civil service status as of the effective date of this act.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
