AN ACT AMENDING THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF WAREHAM RELATIVE TO THE TIME OF TOWN MEETING

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     The charter of the town of Wareham, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out section 2-3 and inserting in place thereof the following section:-
     Section 2-3.  Time of Meeting
     The town meeting shall meet not less than twice in each calendar year. The first meeting, which shall be the annual spring town meeting, shall be held during the month of April at a time fixed by by-law and shall be primarily concerned with the determination of all matters that have a fiscal effect on the town including, but not limited to, the adoption of an annual operating budget covering all town agencies. The second meeting, which shall be the annual fall town meeting, shall be held during the last 4 calendar months at a time fixed by by-law.
     The board of selectmen may call additional town meetings at other times to act on the legislative business of the town in an orderly and expeditious manner by the issuance of warrants.
