The 193rd General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

AN ACT PROVIDING THAT FUTURE MEMBERS OF THE POLICE FORCE IN THE TOWN OF SHARON SHALL BE EXEMPT FROM THE CIVIL SERVICE LAW.

     Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
     SECTION 1.  Chapter 13 of the acts of 1990 is hereby repealed.
     SECTION 2.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the positions of the regular and permanent members of the police force in the town of Sharon shall be exempt from chapter 31 of the General Laws; provided, however, that the civil service status of a member of the town of Sharon police force who is subject to said chapter 31 on the effective date of this act shall not be impaired by this act.
     SECTION 3.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
