AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT FOR THE TOWN MANAGER OF THE TOWN OF SHREWSBURY.

    Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
    SECTION 1.  Section 7 of the charter of the town of Shrewsbury, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the third sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- The town manager shall not be required to be a resident of the town or of the commonwealth when appointed and shall not have held an elective office in the town of Shrewsbury during the 12 months before the appointment; provided, however, that the town manager shall be a resident of the town during the term of office, unless the residency requirement is otherwise modified by vote of the selectmen.
    SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
