AN ACT DEFINING A QUORUM OF CERTAIN PUBLIC BODIES IN THE TOWN OF MONSON.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  (a) For the purposes of this act, “public body” shall mean a multiple-member board, commission, committee or subcommittee within the executive or legislative branch of the town of Monson, however established, appointed or otherwise constituted, to serve a public purpose; provided, however, that “public body” shall not include a multiple-member board, commission, committee or subcommittee whose members are elected by the registered voters of the town.

(b)  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, if a quorum of a public body in the town of Monson requires a simple majority of the members of that public body, then a quorum shall mean a simple majority of the members then actively serving on that public body.

SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
