AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF WEST STOCKBRIDGE TO CONTINUE THE EMPLOYMENT OF STEVEN TRAVER

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, Steven Traver, chief of the fire department of the town of West Stockbridge, may continue to serve in that position, subject to approval by the select board, until June 30, 2023, the date of his retirement or the select board votes not to reappoint him to this position, whichever occurs first, in accordance with all applicable laws; provided, however, that Steven Traver shall be mentally and physically capable of performing the duties of the position. The town may require, at its own expense, that Steven Traver be examined by an impartial physician designated by the select board to determine his capability. No further deductions shall be made from the regular compensation of Steven Traver pursuant to chapter 32 of the General Laws for any service subsequent to the date on which he reaches the age of 65. Upon retirement, Steven Traver shall receive a superannuation retirement allowance equal to the allowance he would have been entitled had he retired upon reaching the age of 65.

SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
