AN ACT DESIGNATING A PORTION OF UNITED STATES HIGHWAY ROUTE 7 IN THE TOWN OF SHEFFIELD AS THE BRIGADIER-GENERAL JOHN G. BARNARD HIGHWAY

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

The portion of United States highway route 7 in the town of Sheffield beginning at mile marker 4.9 in the town of Sheffield and ending at mile marker 5.7 shall be designated and known as the Brigadier-General John G. Barnard highway in honor of Brigadier-General John G. Barnard for his dedicated service in the United States Army as Chief Engineer of the Civil War Defenses of Washington. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain suitable markers along the portion of United States highway route 7 bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
