AN ACT ESTABLISHING THE APPOINTED POSITIONS OF DISTRICT CLERK AND DISTRICT TREASURER FOR THE NORTH RAYNHAM WATER DISTRICT
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 9 of chapter 483 of the acts of 1949 as amended by chapter 240 of the acts of 1979 is hereby amended by striking out the fourth sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:- The board of water commissioners shall appoint a district clerk and a district treasurer, who may be the same person and who need not be residents of the district. The clerk and treasurer shall serve for a term of 3 years and may be reappointed by the commissioners to serve additional terms.
SECTION 2. This act shall not affect the existing terms of a district clerk or district treasurer elected before the effective date of this act. The board of water commissioners shall appoint the successors to any such individuals serving in such positions when the current elected terms of any such individuals expire.
