AN ACT AMENDING THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF PROVINCETOWN

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 7 of the charter of the town of Provincetown, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out section 1 and inserting in place thereof the following section:-
          Section 1. Residency Requirements
          (a) The chief of police and the director of public works shall reside within 45 driving miles of the town of Provincetown and shall meet the requirements of this subsection within 6 months of assuming office.
         (b) The fire chief shall be a resident of the towns of Provincetown, Truro or Wellfleet and shall meet the requirements of this subsection within 6 months of assuming office.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
