AN ACT ESTABLISHING A MINIMUM YEARS OF SERVICE REQUIREMENT FOR A CIVIL SERVICE PROMOTION TO THE POSITION OF FIRE LIEUTENANT IN THE TOWN OF MILFORD
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding chapter 31 of the General Laws or any other general or special law, charter, by-law, rule or regulation to the contrary, to be eligible for a civil service promotion to the rank of fire lieutenant within the fire department in the town of Milford, an applicant shall have not less than 5 years of service in the rank of firefighter or higher rank within a civil service fire department in the commonwealth. A person who does not meet this requirement shall not be eligible to take a promotional examination for the position of fire lieutenant in the Milford fire department. Except as otherwise provided in this act, applicants for promotional appointments shall be subject to all applicable provisions of said chapter 31.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
