The 193rd General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

AN ACT DESIGNATING A CERTAIN BRIDGE IN THE CITY OF LEOMINSTER AS THE HONORABLE JOHN WALTER OLVER MEMORIAL BRIDGE.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to designate forthwith a certain bridge in the city of Leominster, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Bridge number L08023 located in the city of Leominster over state highway route 2 in proximity to exit 99B, currently known as the “twin cities rail trail bridge”, shall be designated and known as the Honorable John Walter Olver memorial bridge in recognition of former Congressman John Walter Olver, who served in both chambers of the general court, being elected to the house of representatives in 1968 and the senate in 1972, and represented the First Congressional District of Massachusetts from 1991 to 2013. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain suitable markers bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department.

Approved, April 2, 2024.
