AN ACT AMENDING THE CHARTER OF THE CITY KNOWN AS THE TOWN OF NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Subsection (b) of section 2-4 of article II of the charter of the city known as the town of North Attleborough, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the word “section” and inserting in place thereof the following word:- subsection.

SECTION 2. Subsection (a) of section 3-1 of article III of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the word “Park” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- Parks and Recreation.

SECTION 3. Paragraph (2) of subsection (d) of said section 3-1 of said article III of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “(a), above” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- (d)(1).

SECTION 4. Subsection (a) of section 5-4 of article V of said charter is hereby amended by striking out, the first time it appears, the word “three” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- 5.

SECTION 5. Subsection (b) of section 5-8 of said article V of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “through 81Y” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- to 81GG, inclusive.

SECTION 6. Section 7-3 of article VII of said charter is hereby amended by adding the following subsection:-
         (d) Write-in or sticker candidate. A person receiving the highest number of votes for a town office as a write-in or sticker candidate shall not be declared elected unless the number of votes received by that candidate is at least equal to the number of signatures of voters required to place the name of a candidate on the official ballot as provided in subsection (a).

SECTION 7. Paragraph (iii) of subsection (b) of section 9-1 of article IX of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the word “ordinance” and inserting in place thereof the following word:- by-law.

SECTION 8. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
