AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF SAUGUS TO DESIGNATE A CHECK-OFF BOX ON ITS TAX BILLS FOR THE SAUGUS EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1.  The town of Saugus may, subject to the approval of the commissioner of revenue, designate a place on its municipal tax bills, excise tax bills, or mail with such tax bills a separate form whereby taxpayers of the town may voluntarily check off, donate and pledge an amount of money, which shall increase the amount already due and which shall be paid over to the Saugus Emergency Relief Fund, in addition to any donations by businesses or organizations that would like to contribute to the fund, to support residents of Saugus in need of immediate assistance during a state of emergency as declared by the commonwealth.

SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
